Meet Anna at planing mill
Easy going in the planing mill for Anna
Anna Hamstig Lund works in the planing mill and likes being involved when things happen. Despite her 28 years, she has already completed an education in the hotel and restaurant business, taken her HGV license, operated dumpers in mines and run a village shop with her mother.
“Now, I have ended up in the right place. My job is fantastic,” Anna says.
Anna has worked at Krekula & Lauri Såg for two years. She started in 2015, with a summer job on the dry sorting line, and then she got a job in the planing mill. She has also supported other departments when needed.
How do you get on with the job?
“I get on really well. We are a fun team, with a mix of guys and girls of different ages. We get on well together and have fun. We can joke with one another and it all feels natural,” Anna says.
“I also like the fact that I can live where I work, no commuting, have good working hours and I feel my employer looks after me.”
Sets the planing machine
Anna cleaves, planes and packs the planed finished raw materials before they go on to the customer. She has acquired unique competence in the planing mill that is not shared by many others. Anna is responsible for setting the planing machine, setting it up correctly, which is done every day.
“Setting the blades is rather special. I takes time to learn how to set the dimensions and the various cutters. I have learned from experience and I had the chance to work close to those with the skills,” she explains.
The commitment is great
For Anna, doing a good job is important.
“I am thorough when I work, sometimes perhaps too thorough, but I want to do a good job so we keep our customers and shown them what we can do.”
“I usually think about the end product and consider my part as one part of a greater whole. I don’t want to do just what I should and then go home. I think my job is interesting.”
